I can’t believe that another twelve months has already flown by—what an amazing year it has been! It is such an honor and privilege to be able to capture families and their many milestones as they journey through this crazy thing called life. I sincerely thank each and every client who graces my lens! I’ve seen newborns to college graduates. I’ve captured the close, unshakeable bonds of sibling love as well as family legacies through multi-generational get togethers. Mothers, daughters, fathers, and sons—I’ve seen them all in their many wonderful forms and personalities. I love putting these collages together at the end of the year because the backdrop changes with the seasons, mirroring our own unique and ever-changing seasons of life.

That being said, because of my love and devotion to family, December is my time to step away from the lens for a bit and spend time with my own. After working crazy long hours through the fall, as enjoyable as they are, I'm ready for a break!

So, what does my family do during the holidays? I hand-make an advent calendar for my six-year-old daughter, full of activities we will be doing together each day. Things like baking gingerbread cookies, doing our annual Christmas puzzle, going to the library to read all their Christmas books, collecting pinecones for decorations, making candles and lip balm, and even going skiing. We keep it simple, and one of her favorite activities (and mine) includes playing at the playground—even if it’s snowing that day! I'm excited to step back into family life for a month. Then I’ll be ready to hit the ground running again with the start of the new year!

Happiest of holidays, and merriest of Christmases from my family to yours—may it be the best holiday season yet!
