Tonight I went to a retirement party. It was full of fun talks and reflection stories that made me laugh and pause at the same time.
Someone I have long admired, a leader a few steps ahead of me who helped shape the path of my career, came over and told me he enjoys reading my LinkedIn posts. Wow. What an honor. That simple comment made my evening.
It also got me thinking… one day my current peers will be up there sharing stories at my own retirement. I hope it is a combination of the true hard stuff, the challenges we worked through together, and the silly personal things like how I manage to keep plants alive in my office. Maybe it is the caffeinated water they grow from, courtesy of my amazing coffee machine.
In the end, the work matters, but so do the relationships, the laughter, and the small details that make us human. That is what shapes the legacy we leave behind.
