Tonight we made cookies. Just my daughter and I.
I was carrying the stress of the day with me. She noticed and told me to get it out, otherwise I probably would not sleep well. She was probably right.
She told me a story instead of giving advice. A story about her middle school finals and how carrying stress made it harder to focus and harder to rest. That was her why. And it worked. It shifted my position immediately.
Flour everywhere. A few cracked eggs. One batch that stayed in too long.
It stuck with me how effective that was.
Leadership is not always about facts or authority. Sometimes it is about sharing the why behind what you are feeling or asking for. Stories create understanding faster than pressure ever will.
The most meaningful influence often comes quietly.
From honesty. From context. From presence.
